This is an SHB EP grade Fair Trade Organic certified coffee from the Cooperativa Agraria Cafetalera Divisoria in Peru. Located in Huanuco, San Martin, Divisoria is in one of the prime coffee and cocoa growing areas of Peru. Focused on values promoting the improvement of living conditions of its 1000 members, the cooperative supports the producers by helping bring high quality crop to market.
This particular microlot was harvested by Carlo Condezo Bravo at 1,500 masl, and is comprised of Faire Trade and Organic Caturra and Bourbon varieties. Born in Cajamarca, Carlos Bravo Condezo is married and the proud father of 3 children. He’s been a coffee producer for nearly 20 years and has been a member of Divisoria since 2004. His ‘Finca’ of 2 hectares, situated in the community of Simón Bolívar in the province of Leoncio Prado, produces about 1,800 lbs per year. As part of his soil conservation practices, Carlos has planted Cedar and pine trees, manually controls weeds, and utilizes only organic fertilization products. While his main crop is coffee, Carlos and his family also cultivates bananas, corn, and other vegetables for their own consumption.
Greener Green Coffee:
Here at Olam Coffee, we are excited to have partnered with ECOTIERRA’S Greener Green Coffee team to offer green coffee sourced from cooperatives that value the importance of adopting sustainable agricultural practices. The promotion of reforestation and net zero-deforestation principles not only benefits the environment and biodiversity, it leads to great coffee! As part of the concept, the environmental footprint related to the transport of the coffee from the Finca to Olam Coffee’s warehouse is offset through the retirement of VCS certified carbon offsets – the leading standard of the voluntary market.
