This is a grade 1 microlot from Anderacha washing station, Sheka Zone, in the Kaffa region of southwest Ethiopia. Grown at altitudes of 1,700-1,900masl, this coffee is utilises a fully washed process whereby ripe cherries are floated to select the highest quality, pulped, fermented, washed with clean spring water and dried in the sun on raised African beds.
The wild, forested Kaffa region in south-west Ethiopia carries with it a certain level of coffee romance. A big contender for the formative birthplace of the arabica coffee tree, these proto-varietals still grow wild & untamed in a veritable forest, a product of thousands of years of unseen evolution right under our noses.
