This is a natural processed coffee of the Pacarama variety from Finca La Esperanza located in Canton El Porvenir, in the Chalchuapa municipality of Santa Ana in El Salvador.
The region is located high in the hills, in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range, characterized by annual rainfall of 2114mm, fertile loamy soils and surrounded by shade of native tree species.
Mrs Sonia Moran was the original owner of Finca La Esperanza, but she sold the farm to Alfredo Pacas Diaz and his son, Juan Alfredo Pacas Martinez in 2010, who now run the farm with a focus on sustainability and conservation efforts. Farm practices include re-planting using high quality varieties, using diversified shade trees, using green approved fertilizers, and digging 'fosas' which capture water and organic matter into aquifers.
The farm is divided into 18 different tablones and has recently undergone an intensive replanting process due to leaf rust attack that started in 2012. Varietals grown on the farm include Pacas, Red Bourbon, Pacamara, Orange Bourbon, Kenya, Ethiopian Heirloom, Moka, and Bernardina.
Finca la Esperanza placed 3rd place in the Cup of Excellence 2019.
