This is a Fair Trade and Organic certified Excelso EP grade coffee from cooperative ASOPEP in Planadas in the Tolima region of Colombia. The Planadas Ecological Producers Association was created in 2013, in Planadas and Ataco municipalities (South Tolima). Currently, it has 162 families enrolled and its area of influence exceeds 40 villages and 400 hectares. They offer Caturra, Castillo, Typica, Bourbon and Geisha varieties grown under shade crops, established on volcanic soils located between 1400 and 2100 m.a.s.l. The main harvest starts in April and ends about July, the secondary or “mitaca” comes at the end of the year. ASOPEP members process their coffee by the wet method and the beans are naturally sun dried, mainly under parabolic dryers.
