About This Coffee

This is a Single Estate, Semi-Washed process coffee Matas de Minas region of Brazil. Cherries are manually picked and varieties include Catuai, Mundo Novo, Catuacai, Pacamara and Icatu. Growing altitude ranges up to 1350 masl, amongst the highest altitude coffee in all of Brazil.

THE PROCESS

This coffee utilises a 'semi-washed' or 'pulped-natural' process. Cherries are wet-pulped and then dried with the cherry's mucilage still intact. This process is popular in Brazil and tends to produce coffees with excellent sweetness, body and balance.

THE REGION

Matas de Minas is a micro-region on the eastern tip of the state of Minas Gerais. The region is notable for its unique landscape of pituresque rolling hills, atypical for Brazilian coffee regions and a far cry from the plains and plateaus of the Cerrado Mineiro. The region boasts amongst the highest altitudes available for coffee production in Brazil and tends to produce a number of competition winning lots or exceptional complexity and quality.
