Café Delas was created to help women farmers access the resources, knowledge, and voice they need to grow their operations to its fullest potential. For every Café Delas sale, a portion of the profit is reinvested toward programs that promote gender equality and empower women in the field.
This coffee is a natural processed coffee grown at farm Peão, founded in 1984, located in Campestre, Minas Geras. This lot was produced by Ilma Goncalves Muniz, and consists of the varietals Catuai, Catucai and Mundo Nova. This coffee was grown at heights of 1350 masl. Ilma comes from a traditional coffee growing family. She was very young when she lost her parents and inherited along with 7 brothers, the farm Bela Vista, located in the municipality of Campestre. Then Ilma bought 2 new properties (Peão and Peão de Cima). Today the family (Ilma and her children) have 11 farms, where the average production is 3500 bags per year. Although her children help with the farm, she still likes to be in charge of farm management. As the harvest is manual, the family cares about producing more high-quality coffees. Ilma doesn’t think of abandoning coffee because as she says, coffee has been in present within her entire life and is what she loves. She credits coffee to her being able to provide for her children.
