Brazil Fine Cup 16/18 - Leda Teresinha
About This Coffee
This is a Fine Cup grade Semi-Washed process coffee from Leda Teresinha Castellani Pereira Lima's farm, Fazenda Nova Esperanca in the city of Monte Santo de Minas, Brazil. The towns of Machado, Monto Santo, Intamogi, and Sao Sabastiao in southwest Minas Gerais hug the border with Sau Paulo. A generation ago coffees grown in this region would have been known simply as Santos after the famed coffee port 400 miles away, once less than a day’s journey on a railroad build by coffee farmers, for whom state border meant little when it came to growing coffee. Although Minas Gerais has been the largest coffee producing state in Brazil for decades, but before that, it was Sau Paulo. For 100 years, Sau Paulo was the king of coffee and Minas Gerais was better known for milk. In the government, when the two states flexed their combined political muscle, they were known as “coffee and milk.”
