About This Coffee

This is an SHG EP grade, Fair Trade, organic certified coffee that comes from APROCAFE in Caranavi, in the western highlands of Bolivia.
Founded in 1999, Aprocafe is now affiliated with 49 coffee producer, 32 of which are certified organic. The coffee producers belong to seven communities in the North East region, and on average, each producer has about 3 hectares of coffee growing land. Each producer processed and dried the coffee on their own.

Harvest period begins in May and ends in September. Coffee is grown at 1400-1600 masl, and the main varietals grown are Caturra, Catuai, and Typica or Criolla. APROCAFE holds an organic certification by BIOLATINA and a Fair Trade certificate by FLO International. The goal is to expand with the use of new agricultural practices using new varieties resistant to rust, and an aim to reforest the plot with timber trees. For reforestation, Aprocafe provides seedbeds for producers to grow in the coffee plantation.
